Additional Notes for May 22nd 2018 Kenai Area Fishing Report
Area lakes are fishing well for Rainbow Trout and Dollies. Spoons Spinners and earth worms work best for conventional gear and Wooly buggers, nymphs and mosquito patterns in the evenings during surface feeding activity. Kelly Lake, Petersen Lake, Watson Lake, Egumen Lake, and lakes in the Skilak Lake Road area are open and doing well. Upper level Lakes (above 1000ft) usually open on or about the 1st of June. Less than 30 days remain before the 1st run Sockeye opener here in Cooper Landing. The Russian River and the Russian River Ferry have already welcome the 1st of the runs arrivals of fresh Sockeye. The opener is JUNE 11th 2018 which is a Monday this year. Week day openers are usually the best...less crowded and lots of fish. Time to take that hard earned vacation from work and fish!!
