Additional Notes for May 11th 2015
The much anticipated 1st run Sockeye Opener for the Russian River & Russian River Ferry is Thursday June 11th. Opening day during the week is typically packed with fish with few Fishermen until the weekend. Expect easy limits of chrome Sockeye. The river level is expected to be around 19 inches at the fish ladder or high which is typical for opening day. Start changing out last years line for fresh mono between 25 & 30lb test and sharpen those hooks because as of midnight the 11th it's "Fish-On!!! The local lakes are all fishing well. Kelly and Petersen are open and Rainbow catches are good. Rainbow Lake and Cooper Lake are also ice free and open. Spoons and spinners are the ticket in silver or gold. For fly fishermen, natural color wooly buggers always work well. A variety of wet flies such as a black nymph, Zug Bugs and dry flies such as the Parachute Adams or just an Adams will get it done.
